I'm very green in terms of understanding Low Frequency Bluetooth application so I was hoping for some advice. I would like to be able to tag parts as I assemble my product (engines) and then be able to have those show up in a central system when the final product is moved to a separate site. So parts would be tagged at one site and then automatically downloaded by a separate program at the following site, like a map key I suppose. This way my partner can see what parts are where and which parts I used.

I have been looking at RFID and Low Frequency Blue Tooth tags, which may be the same thing I'm not sure, and at the new ibeacon from Apple.

Could someone please point me in the right direction in terms of products and software? Ideally, the tags should be cheap and discardable.

Thanks!

Wait, so you want an RFID or Bluetooth tag on every item?
Maybe I don't understand what you are asking but this is what QR code was made for(assembly lines)

We thought about that. We are assembling these by hand and we were thinking that we could have the parts tagged so they would show up immediately on a computer at my partner's site.

We thought that maybe using the new ibeacon or similar applications that we could do something like this fast and easy.
