i only play left 4 dead so I don't know how well my 4850 plays in other games, but all I know is the 4850 runs at >60fps with my settings maxed out to the fullest at 1080 resolution. If I reinstall my drivers, I'll get those frame rates (yesterday), but right now (with no change in settings) I'm getting 20 to 30 fps. I can reinstall my drivers and get it back up to 60fps again... turning off AA and AF gets me 60fps currently in this situation.

why is my 4850 doing so bad?

edit: i should also mention the ccc keeps crashing when i try to open it.

edit edit: in case you didn't notice, I have Windows 7

ok i fixed the problem... sort of... it is the drivers, and it is CCC crashing that's messing up everything. I simply attempt to open CCC until it doesn't crash and opens up normally. once CCC is open, the game runs like normal. so... how do I stop CCC from crashing?

it's def. the drivers.

"catalyst control center command line interface has stopped working"

I'm going to OC my cpu back to 2.8ghz

i keep getting BSOD from time to time during windows boot up (OC or no OC). BSOD goes away if I unplug my other hard drives, sometimes. This is what I'm thinking the problem is:

1. the oc'ing is corrupting my windows
2. my PSU is failing causing Windows to corrupt. Since I unplug the hard drives, less load on the PSU so I get better performance.
3. those two problems are related to Windows 7. hard drive master boot record mix up with the other hard drives and CCC incompatibility with windows 7 (even though I downloaded the windows 7 version)

I vote problem number 3

I'm running a 4850 on a very overclocked Q9550 with zero problems. I don't think it's just the drivers. It might be the drivers on your configuration, but the drivers work perfectly for others.

You could always just install the drivers without CCC. Many people don't need it anyway. Don't use driver cleaners...
