Low FPS, going crazy

I started up a saved game in crysis Warhead and for i noticed my fps were low. So I checked and I was getting ~20 fps. Graphics settings were on highest possible and 4x AA. I'm pretty sure I played it not to long ago and was getting like 40-60. Also booted up Company of Heroes and I was getting like 20-30 fps in that too 🙁 . So I ran the built in benchmark and got a minimum of 9 and an average of like 30... wtf! I looked at my gpu usage, and hovered around 50% or less, sometimes jumping up more. I've tried uninstalling drivers, cc clearner, system restore. what can I do??

I also played bf3 but I was nailing 40-60 on Ultra. So that seems normal

System:
2500k at 4 GHz
7970 at 1000/1450
12 gb of ram
windows 7 64bit
current drivers 12.10

There must be some setting which you missed. Was it a problem before 12.10?
Anyway 12.11 beta seems to be very good for the 7 series and you might want to try that if its a driver issue or go back to something earlier.

Overclock degradation? Try upping the vcore by 5mv and see if it stabilizes. Update to drivers 12.11 if that doesn't solve it. Look into reverting settings to stock (CPU overclock, GPU overclock) and see if that remedies the situation. Run memtest and see if one of your ram modules are malfunctioning. Try another PSU and see if the system is being fed enough power through that.

Follow it in the order... i have a feeling your situation will be isolated by doing the above steps in roughly that order. If none of that works, we can carry on.

check your GPU clock speeds while playing these games that you are getting low performance in. Might be getting stuck in 2D clocks. If it is it you might need to turn off hardware acceleration for flash. It can cause the card to stick in 2D.

What are your settings? At 1080p max with 4x AA you might end up with those results. IMO Crysis is still the most intensive game out there and benchmarks support this.

Remove AA and play at 1680x1050. If it isn't okay then there might be a problem.

Well I fixed the issue. It appears to be some bug in the drivers. At least 12.10 and the new beta 12.11. In the AA section of catalyst, I had turned the AA type to "Edge Detect" but I had the app setting to "Use Application's Settings". When I turn the AA type to Standard or if I turn the app setting to "Use Enhanced Settings" the issue goes away and my fps in Company of Heroes and Crysis Warhead go back to normal.
