Low FPS Fix?

I've got an eVGA 7800GT CO SE.

In those games, it's on 4x AA 16x AF
1024x768 85hz for COD2 + FEAR and 1280x1024 in Quake 4
VSync On (85fps max)
Image Settings on High Quality

476/1150 on the speeds as if I go any higher on the core I get flickering and whatnot.

Any ideas why it could be running 20-40fps? I just built the computer yesterday. Temperatures are good for everything. System has a DFI Expert, latest drivers, and a 2.9GHz Opteron 148. My friend is running the identical system on an Asus A8N-SLI board, 1GB, and N515-AX 7800GT and is seeing smooth sailing. Mine also has 1GB Corsair PC3200XL TCCD RAM. All settings are on high quality and soft shadows is off in FEAR

is your friend playing with 4xAA and 16x AF?

Those settings seem about right with those games, especially with vsync on. Try turning it off.

Thanks guys, I had the RAM at DDR414 and 2-6-3-3. Memtest is running fine with no errors at 2-5-2-2 so I'll use that and turn vSync off and let you know what happens 🙂.

Don't DFI NF4 boards have problems with Corsair ram?

Mine doesn't. Takes the PC3200XL 2-2-2-5 DDR414 like cake.

COD2 works SO MUCH BETTER with vSync off! 20+fps all around which is very nice to have 🙂. Going to go test some other games 🙂
