Low-end video card

Hi everyone,

What's a good low-end PCI-E video card to get? It needs to be able to handle all the features in Vista and maybe some gaming. My budget is around $125. I know I can't get the best for that price, but I'm just looking for a solid card that will meet my needs.

how about an ATI AIW X800 XL PCI-E ? It's not low end, you get TV Tuner/ Radio Video in video out bunch of multimedia features and you get a X800 XL

You can easily get an X850XT used for ~$100, PCI-e

I have one and it's THE best $$$/perf. card around

Either an X850XT or a 7600GT will be the best bet in that price range ... the GT is a little slower but will run quieter, cooler & supports more of the latest 3D features plus draws considerably less power & only takes up one slot so it would be my first choice.

I got a BFG 7600GT/OC for $113 from Newegg. Very nice upgrade for the money, coming from a 6800GT.

What do you mean by not run? As in the game *won't* be work on anything below a 7series/x1xxx series card? 😉

Seriously now, those of us with older cards can play the game, just not with all the details on...

The BFG 7600GT's cooler is LOUD. The EVGA's one is quiet. Get the EVGA.

A lot of people say that, but I haven't noticed any increase in noise since swapping out the 6800GT w/NVSilencer 5 for the BFG 7600GT.

I noticed you said that it must be able to run every feature in Vista, well there is only one card out that can do that and that is the 8800 since it is DX10 compatible.

I say go with the 7600GT though because it is a good solid card and if you go on eBay you can get one for under $100!
