Hi All,

My brother just got home from Afghanistan, bought a new PC, and is trying to figure out to keep the video card it came with or use his old one I bought for him before he deployed.

Old one - geforce 8600 gts 256 mb
One in PC - gt320 1 GB

The PC is Core i5, 8 GB RAM if that helps at all.

Thanks in advance!

gt320 will crush the 8600gts, the gt320 its much faster.
Even the slowest version is faster.

"Slotting in below that is the GeForce GT 330, which surprisingly is a DirectX 10 card - built, presumably, on the old 55nm fab. The card's specification will vary, but it'll feature a GPU clocked at 550MHz, 1GB/2GB of either DDR2 or DDR3 memory hooked up via a 128/192/256-bit interface, and either 96 or 112 processor cores clocked at up to 1,340MHz. It appears to take its heritage from the 9-series line, and comes across as a mash up between the GeForce 9600 GSO and GeForce 9800 GT."

What's that quote from? It says 330, not 320.

Thanks for the input!

Looks like from here:

Interesting.

Yeah the GT320 is hugely faster. If he runs resolutions like 1280x800 or 1280x720 (depend on monitor), it will run fairly decent on medium details settings. It will start to choke in most modern games at 1680x1050, and 1920x1080 or higher is unthinkable for anything but very old games.

Thanks for the help everybody, he's running a 19 inch widescreen so I'll just let him know to stick with the gt320.

I wouldn't recommend either card tbh, both are just too weak to be of any use for modern games. we will need to know how much you can spend and what resolution your monitor is.

He is not trying to buy a card , he has both cards. He just wanted to know which ones faster.

Hmm, his wording was a tad confusing, but the way I see it. He friend already had a card, then he bought him a gt320 and would now like to know which is faster?
