Low end domestics

RULES: NO IMPORTS

Don't shoot the messenger. My dad won't buy one. End of story.

So here in Canada only Chrysler and Ford are offering the employee discounts unfortunately. Otherwise I'd recommend a Cobalt to him in a heartbeat.

Basically I'm thinking his choices are new Cavaliers and Sunfires (dirt cheap & brand new), Focus, or Neons.

That or a used Impala.

He wants something very new (2003+).

What should he get? All he cares about is reliability and fuel mileage.

You mentioned the Impala... I think it is a nice choice. I had one for two weeks as a rental car and I really liked it. Rode smooth, acceptable power, had plenty of leg room and trunk space. Far better than the Nissan Altima I had on my last trip - that thing handles like a boat and the interior was miserable.

what cars are canadian?

There are no Canadian cars. We call NA manufactured cars domestics while everything else is Imports (with European and Japanese sub categories). Just because they manufacture several models up here doesn?t make them "Canadian cars".

If you are limited to a Ford & Chrysler small car, I'd suggest a Focus.

They are good cars, great to drive, and now have all their bugs fixed..so they are reliable.

Best domestic to rival the Corolla/Civic.

What would you guys recommend if I could include imports?

I was talking to my dad, he's somewhat less hostile to imports than I originally suspected....

Civic x 90 million

or maybe a corolla.

if he's really budget conscious then hyundai, they're really coming up on the market and you can get a damn nice car for cheap.

why not a cobalt, they have very high ratings, they're probably the only domestic compact that is any good
