I recently put together a low-end Mini-ITX build and thought I would share. Since I already spent the money, it is to late to make changes. In fact I already got it running with the OS Installed on a hard drive.

Case: Thermaltake V1

DDR4 Single 8GB Gskill Aegis 2133 Similar to this. Added second one.

Feel free to make comments if you want to.

For some reason I decided to try ordering just one stick of DDR4 in 8GB size. I reasoned that if I want 16 it would be easy to order one more stick of RAM.

I saved some money by ordering the Motherboard and CPU at Micro-Center. I was going to buy a lower-end Pentium dual core CPU but they had a deal where you could do a combo deal and save $30 on the motherboard. I did end up spending $15 in tax. However, I have noticed a lot of places on the Internet are charging tax now.

I love that ITX case. it is so easy to work on because even the bottom can come off to get at the power supply. Just remove 2 thumb screws and it comes off. It has a 200mm front fan and room for two more 80 mm fans in the back. The front of the case lets you extend your video card out to the wire mesh front grill.

Warning this is a video on youtube?

I would not suggest that unless you really plan to buy that second stick soon. Especially without a discrete video card, that i3 needs RAM bandwidth.

Definitely do dual channel. And please, get an SSD, not an HD. That is the key ingredient to making a cheap build really zippy.

Good CPU choice.

I planned on getting one more stick of ram. I took a photo of the part numbers just in case. I might get an SSD later around XMAS. The EDIMAX USB AC600 dual channel network adapter is really working well.

I updated my monitor. The one in the photo is a Dell 18.5 HD Monitor. That was a bit small So I am using a 32" Samsung HDTV as a monitor. It worked pretty well but it does not fit the video well to the screen size. I had to do a custom aspect ratio in the Intel graphics display options for the i-3 IGP to work right. This could be the HDTV or the Intel IGP not wanting to work well together.

I purchased this item at $197.99 with free shipping. It has a slightly higher price now.
