my company received a quote from STS telecom and from the looks of it, we'd be saving several thousand a month. (their local package comes with 400 long distance minutes per line and because of the number of lines we have, we'd have more than 15,000 long distance minutes per month. getting rid of our long distance charges would be just scrumptious.)
they're also giving us a feature called EVO faxes, where we'd get "fake" fax numbers which our employees could configure to receive faxes through e-mail. (like efax.com) this is definitely a feature we would like to have, especially since many of the faxes we receive are "eyes only". we'd get 1 EVO fax number per line.
i did some research on the company, apparently they've been doing business since 1994, and local service for 3 years. i asked to speak with a manager at STS and got them to give me the name of two clients (one at allstate and another at royal airlines) with whom they've had over a year relationship. i'm going to give them a call and see what else i can learn.
i'm being cautious because several years ago we switched to a low cost reseller who went belly-up in just a matter of months. we lost tons of money when we lost our phones for several days, and evern more when we had to reconnect our lines with bellsouth. STS claims to be a bellsouth reseller so according to them, if they were to go belly-up reconnecting our lines would be quick and painless.
so my question is, is 40% savings too good to be true?
