Lately in my neighborhood there has been some car thefts.

I live at the 6th floor (20 meters or 65 feet from the ground) and I would like to record my car.

Since mostly of the thefts happen at night it should be able to record at night, but in a well lit situation.

It would be connected via USB to my pc pointing toward my car.

Do you think I can find a camera for under $150-$200? What can fit best my needs? a webcam?

Any webcam would work, of course the quality will be lacking on lower end. For instance, if you buy cheap your resolution will be something like 640X480. Sitting from 65 ft up and having a resolution of 640x480 would be good for one thing, Identifying WHEN your car was jacked. It won't really help identify the suspect.

I would personally spend like $60-100 and get one of those Logitech HD webcams that can record in at least 720 P (meaning 1280x720 resolution). That way maybe you can catch what the car thief is wearing, color of skin, and what time it was jacked.
