Low cost Airfares?

I'm looking to buy a ticket for a friend. He'll be going from Hamburg, Germany to NYC (doesn't matter which airport) some time at the beginning of July and needs to return at the beginning of August. I've checked expedia, travelocty and some other site, but their rates seem kinda high. Any ideas as to where else I can check?
 
it is ofcourse high due to the fact you are too late.... you should have bought it like beginning of may or so... then it would have been cheaper...
 
sometimes a travel agency can get a great deal.... i got a roundtrip ticket for $570 (inc taxes) to Japan (from DC). but yes, you are a bit late in getting the ticket.
 
It's peak season, it's gonna be expensive

Cheapest I found was $450 + taxes

I think Priceline only does departures from US

Thanks folks. I know I'm late, but he wasn't sure himself if and when he'd come. Where did you find the $450 fare?
