Low carb pasta..

I've had wheat pasta before. Flavor wise, you will notice a slight difference. The difference is hard to describe but it still tastes good and doesn't detract from the meal. I found it at the local Supermarket. It was a little bit more expensive ~.50 more than regular pasta.

Most of the low carb pasta I have seen is made with soy and, in my opinion, cardboard would probably taste better. My husband is diabetic and, after tasting that stuff, he decided he would rather have no pasta than that.

The one you link to is made with semolina and the one low carb pasta that we have tried like that wasn't too bad - not like the real thing, but edible.

The idea is to have a little bit of pasta, with a lot of "stuff" on it - like veggie sauce, or meatballs or something. That way it doesn't mess up the blood sugar as much, and it doesn't taste as yucky.

The better the pasta tastes, the more carbs it has - check the carb count on the "low carb" pasta, don't be fooled into thinking you can have as much as you want.

you can get a bunch of these at whole foods or trader joes. My wife bought some at TJ's made from ezekiel grain. I liked it. The good ones are like $3 a box.

I've switched over to wheat pasta and I can honestly say I can't notice any difference (taste-wise).

I eat and like a lot of soy-based products, but the "low carb" pasta that had soy in it that I tried did not taste very good (I tried it for the soy, no the low-carb -- high-carb FTW!). Single data point, though, so YMMV.

I actually have a box of that Dreamfields stuff a few feet away from me right now...IMO it's a lot better than some of the other low-carb pastas I've tried, as far as I'm concerned it's identical (or at least very very close) to "real" pasta.

Dreamfields low carb pasta is pretty good. Krogers usualy has it. It's more expensive of course, but you can usually find a coupon every now and then. In fact, there is a $1.00 off coupon on that site.

Same here. My girlfriend is Italian and she makes a lot of meals with pasta. We switched the wheat pasta and I think it's great.

Isn't normal pasta wheat?😕

Made from duram semolina.

I eat whole wheat pasta. There is a slight difference in taste if you eat it plain, but once you add sauce and stuff it's all good.

Indeed (durum). I think they mean whole wheat.

Edit: And whole wheat is not "low-carb".
