Low agp memory for 9800 pro... help!

After trying to flash to 9800xt, and finding out that my card shows nothing but screwd up stuff on screen, reflashing it back was the only choice.

Ever since I have experiencing sudden freezes (frames go low then back up) in games / 3d mark 2k1se so I decided to check total agp memory in 3d mark and it says 56 mb

After the test it goes down to 24 mb

Can this be fixed? What have I done wrong?

uh oh... 😛

thats one fast card you got there at 450/380 dont know why youd try an XT... did you re-flash it with the original BIOS?

Yeah I did reflash everything is fine except for total agp memory
as for 9800 xt flash this is what happened:
first time I flashed everything worked, installed drivers but then in windows xp whenever i run 3d mark my frames go down and up frequently so I reflashed.
The problem still occurs so I tried win 98 and this doesn't happen so I flashed to 9800 xt again but this time the video card will not show anything but screwd up stuff on the screen and so I reflashed again.
But I think it all has to do with this agp memory, why is it low and how it can be fixed.

When you flash to an XT you will get higher core/memory due to the instructions of drivers which supposadly give more juice to the card.

Yeah reflashed it many times... anyways I just set the agp apature size to 512 and now agp memory in win 98 is 248 and in winxp is 117

win 98 3d mark runs almost ok
win xp 3d mark runs like crap, almost looks like its lagging and low frames
both use 3.10 catalyst

driver cleaner

i don't know... it still leaves some weird registry settings even after you uninstall the drivers normally... so this is worth a try i guess...

just uninstall everything related to ATI
