Thats an extremely low score, you should be getting at the least 6000.

What motherboard do you have and what chipset?

I have the same problem with my GF3 Ti200, which turned out to be a Via Chipset issue...

I'm not saying thats your problem, but someone with a GF3 doesn't get a super low score like that for no reason.
Being the Platinum member you are, you probably checked the obvious, so I figured I'd say one of the least obvious. :)
Ah what the hell, I'll state the obvious anyway.

Update to DirectX 8.1, and get the latest drivers for your card. If your using your card manufacturers drivers (which it looks like you are)then try the latest Nvidia drivers version 23.11. Make sure your video card isn't sharing an IRQ with another device. To help insure that your video card runs smooth it should be on an IRQ channel by itself.

Also to help people respond you should post your system specs, what you changed in your system recently (new hardware added, ect), and tell us if this is just a 3d mark problem or if you get bad FPS in every game/program.

Thats my two cents.

Considering that it's not recognizing the motherboard manufacturer, model, or fsb speed, I'm guessing that you just need to re-install your motherboard drivers. It's possible that during the rebooting process of installing the motherboard drivers that it may have aborted installation or had some sort of error on installation.

Ok, thanks for the input guys. I think I need to install some more drivers....

The mobo is a MSI K7T Pro2-A ..... I think - I don't know if its the "a" version or not.
I have 384mb RAM
Geforce3 is a gainward cardexpert

Assuming I were to reformat everything and install the OS from scratch, what drivers do I need to install?

-- Latest Nvidia
-- Direct X8.1
-- What mobo drivers do I need? What is the 4 in 1?

Also, how do I check if there are any mobo specific drivers installed... I think its just using the drivers that win2000 has.
Is that what is f-ing everything up?

What kind of score should I be getting with a 1ghz T-bird + G3 + 384mb Ram?

Ok, it looks like your board runs off of the Via KT266A chipset.

Here's the boards that matched what you said at MSI's website.
http://www.msicomputer.com/product/chipset/via_kt266.htm

So for your motherboard drivers you'll need to get the latest Via 4in1 drivers v4.36. You can get that here. http://www.viaarena.com/?PageID=2 .
The 4in1 drivers work on any Via Chipset motherboard and on any windows platform.

For any additional mobo help here's the link to the MSI support page in case you don't have it allready.
http://www.msicomputer.com/support/msisupport.htm

Another thing I thought of is that if there is a sound card or any pci card in your motherboards PCI slot 1 then move it to another pci slot. Someone recently told me that the PCI slot 1 and your agp slot usually share the same IRQ and that can suck resources away from your vid card, which would make it run slower.

As for what you should be looking for in your 3DM score, I estimate you should be getting 5500+. Anything lower would be considered poor performance on that system.

ConFuseMe,

I just installed the 4 in 1 drivers and my score went up to 5431.
Also, my mobo is not does not have a 266 chipset..... It has the KT133A.
Here is the printout.
Still need to update directX...

Thanks for all the help :)

My bad.
I just put in a search for the motherboard you mentioned and it came to that page so I assumed it was a 266. :)
As you can tell I'm not a pro, just started really learning about computers myself a few weeks ago.

Glad I could point you to the drivers at least....
I guess you just had outdated via drivers.
