Low 3DMark06 Scores

I have a Q6600 B3, with an 8600GTS 256M. While I don't game a ton, I was fiddling with 3DMark06 to see how I stack up. I can't get a score better than about 6,400. I am OC'd stable at 3.3G (8x412 or 9x366 both stable), Crucial Ballistix DDR2 800 @ 1050 mHz at 5-5-5-12. It looks like I should be scoring around 10,000 based on comparables.

My CPU is clearly not the limiting factor as I am getting frame rates around 2.7-2.8 on the CPU tests.

I can't POST if I change the PCIx frequencies in the BIOS. In nTune, I can boost up to about 4375 SPP / 4175 MCP, but that only helps my scores by about 200 points compared to running both at 2500.

nTune won't let me adjust the (675 mHz, 1450 mHz, 1008 mHz) core frequency, the shader frequency, or the memory frequency on the GPU. Riva tries, but locks up and dumps on me. I have adjust the driver settings all to performance, and don't know what else to try.

Any ideas? From what I have read around on different forums, and on the 3DMark06 comparisons, the 8600 GTS with my setup should be scoring much higher.

Thanks,

Sherpa.

Well, true, I'm not expecting 15,000 or anything, but I was completely average for 8600 GTS 256. There is a large group performing at the 9,500 to 10,500 using the same card. I just wondered what they are doing different than me. Looking at their scores, my CPU test scores are all better than theirs, so I know it is a graphics card performance issue.

Because I'm not a hard core gamer, my real world performance on the games I play is OK with me. This is more of just an ego thing. Want what I have to be the best it can.

That is definitely a low score. I was able to do better than 6000 with my old 8600GTS and processor @ only 2.65GHz. Odd. Have you tried '05?

I very much doubt that. My 7950GT gets the sameish framerates to a 8600 and I get 6500 on 3dmark06.

Your score is fine.

Considering how CPU-limited 3dmark is, you honestly think his scores are fine?
