Low 3dmark06 score on 8800GTX

Hi everyone,
I recently upgraded my PC and have the following specs:

(everything is running at stock)
E6600 @ 2.4ghz
Leadtek 8800GTX
2GB Corsair value ram
Intel DQ963GS Motherboard (specs: http://www.intel.com/products/motherboard/DQ963GS/index.htm)

I ran a 3dmark06 test with everything at default and scored...

7100 🙁

I looked around on the web and saw that people get scores of around 10k on stock E6600 and 8800GTX, in fact, I found a person scoring 8000 with the same CPU, RAM and 8800 GTS 320MB .. so there is obviously something wrong.
My guess would be motherboard, I already realized it was a big mistake on my part to try and save money on a MB... would switching to Gigabyte GA-965P-S3 solve the problem?

Thanks.

I'm not familiar with that mobo so I can't comment on it, but why are you not overclocking your CPU and video card? If you do those simple steps you will see your score go past 10,000.

I'm of course planning to, but first I wanted to make sure everything runs as it should on stock... and saw the problem.

when i had a low 3dmark score one time, it was related to heat. my video cards were basically throttling. so my suggestion is look for something thats heating up badly. if everything is running cool, then id try to reinstall windows, and install drivers from scratch.

I have an eVGA 8800GTX @ stock, E6600 @ stock, 2GB of decent RAM, ASUS P5B-E MB, no special cooling, and my 3DMark06 stock score was 9964. Was playing around with some basic overclocks last night for the video card and without touching the CPU or the RAM I was getting about 10250. I'm going to play around a little bit more later.

What drivers? I was on 97.92

with my current configuration I got like 9647 on 3dmark06.... that cpu torture test was horrible 0-2 frames per sec.
