Low 3DMark05 scores?!

Hi all,

I am currently running an Asus AX800XT PE vid card with the current Asus drivers. I was wondering if I could run the card with the offical ATi drivers (mainly the new Catalyst 4.10 drivers). Is there any known issues that may cause any problems? I'm pretty sure the cards them selves are the same. I prefer the new control center over the older control panel. Has anyone tried this before with any success?

Btw, I ran 3DMark05 yesterday and got the following scores:

3DMark Score: 4373
CPU Mark Score: 4826

I was hoping for higher for my rig setup....anyone know if this is ok or kinda low?

Any ideas or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Jeff

i've been able to use the ati drivers with 3rd party cards (sapphire, powercolor) so they should be fine. make sure you run driver cleaner after you uninstall the asus drivers. just follow the readme that comes with dc3.

Yes... for future reference no matter what manf you go to you can ALWAYS use the reference drivers. And 99% they are one of the fastest.

Yes that is pretty darn low for your system. In fact that is extremely low.

#1 You need to check your voltages make sure that they are not spiking or lower than what they are supposed to be.

#2 Did you install the latest Nforce drivers? If not you NEED to instal those.

What version of Windows are you running? I assum XP but are you running SP1 2 or no SP?

Also bench after installing the ATI drivers, as Manf drivers tend to be bogged down and older reference drivers.

Darn, this is sad news nonetheless. How would I confirm my voltage is spiking? I did find out my RAM was running on 2T. I've then fixed it to 1T @ 2-2-2-5 @ 200Mhz and I've increased my scores by about 200 on the 3DMark. Now I average 3DMark scores of about 4500 and CPU scores of about 5300. I'm satisfied with my CPU score, its just my 3DMark score.

I am running Windows XP with SP2. I have skipped the nForce Drivers that came with my mobo and used the lastest ones from the start. I'm using the lastest ATi Catalysts as well (4.10). My test dies on the 2nd test, the one in the forest. I average like 10 FPS! -_-. Any other clues on why my score is so low? I haven't overclocked yet...and I don't want to yet until I figure out what is the matter with my rig.

I want to at least score into 5200 which would be a better fit. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Jeff

What are your voltage readings? Everything the others have suggested .... which it sounds like you've also tried suggests the next thing we need to see is if your power source is up to the burden. You might as well post temps too .... we'll look at those also.

My voltage readings are as follows:

VCore: 1.49 v

VDimm: 2.75 v

AGP: 1.50 v

I'm running my memory at 1T 2-2-2-10. THis is faster than my previous 2-2-2-5.

I want to hit about 4800 with the 3DMark and about 5200 with CPU. The CPU doesn't seem to be the problem as I can easily get in the 5500 range.

Ok, changed my memory timing to 1T @ 2-2-2-10 per suggestions of others and cleaned up my ATI Catalyst Control Center

Ran 3DMark05 and here are my results:

4579 3DMark

5940 CPU

My Scores

Can't seem to break the 4500 barrier I'm stuck at. Others with my specs and drivers have hit over 4800...

try right clicking on "my computer" -> properties -> clicking the "advance" tab (i think) and setting the performance options to something like 'speed' instead of 'looks'. can't tell you the exact steps cause i'm on a 2000 machine at the moment. if you haven't already done that, it should give you a surprising increase score-wise

I didn't think ~4500 was a bad score on 05.

For an X800XT it is. That thing should be hovering around 5400.

Also how in the hell are you managing a 1T command rate and 222 timings with all 4 banks filled???

I'm not. I forgot to edit my rig setup. I previously was at 4 Dimms @ 2T. I pulled 2 out and am currently at 1T @ 2-2-2-10. I checked scores and I haven't seen a stock setup as mine with my set of drivers running at 5400. The highest stock setup on ORB with my settings was at 4800. Those guys running the high scores have the unapproved Omega drivers. I'm just trying to get to the 4800 plateau.
