I recently build my first complete system with an AMD X2 4400+ processor and ATI X850 XT PE video card. I ran 3Dmark over the weekend and my score seems quite low in comparison to others with my configuration. Any ideas on what this could be? Here are the results

CPU: AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 2211 MHz

OS: Microsoft Windows XP

First make sure you aren't looking at people that are benchmarking early samples of Crossfire (2x the card for 2x the speed). Also make sure you set everything in your graphics settings (Catalyst Control Center) to application preference.

Yeah, go to your control panel graphic settings, and for 3D, click to set everything to default, and then click apply.

OK, I'll make sure all drivers are updated tonight and then make sure that the AA and AF settings are turned down/off.

Thanks.

Good I cause I was thinking I was going crazy. Looks like high end gets the bad end of the stick with driver updates . I have 4 120 fans so i can keep it oc 24/7 it stays around 50~ temp wise and funnly thing is my cpu got lower temp 35-40.

Likely you had AA & AF turned on.

Set it to application preference & rebench.

Yeah same here, I got adequate cooling, 2 pci exhaust fans, 2 out take fans, and 2 intake fans. usually the GPU is way hotter than the cpu o_O..

btw steel phantom,

make your catalyst display properties (in 3d) to best performance, and also fast writes off.

That's funny, because when I had an OC'd 9800p, the score went up from about 2950 to about 3150 when I switched to cat5.7

Even though I was absolutely positive that I had turned AA/AF off, I guess it didn't take. I reran 3Dmark the score went from 4918 to 6425.

Much better.

Thanks for the help!
