low 3d mark score for 9700?

with the system in my rid (2.4 P4, radeon 9700, 512 MB PC-3000) i'm getting under 12000 in 3dmark2001. i just reformatted, and i'm running Win2K SP2, Cat 3.2 and Direct X 9. isn't that score low? i know that 3dmark doesn't matter, but it can be a good indicator of problems. FSAA and AF are turned off, and all texture settings are on high. thanks.

Run it with the slider at performance. See what you get then compare it to similar systems to yours. Some will be high because they don't state they're running overclocked. Is it a 9700 or 9700Pro? Here's mine with a 9500Pro with the slider set to performance. 3dmark

mine is a 9700 flashed with a 9700 Pro bios. i'll try running with everything set to performance, and i'll report back.

putting everything to performance did nothing. maybe i'm just very cpu bound. oh well, my games all run really well.

try unchecking the 'custom' button and slide the top slider all the way to performance. then run it. this increased my 3dmark02 like 1000 pts.

Hmm, well, you have to remember that a Radeon 9700 is designed to really shine when resolutions are high, and FSAA and AF are turned up, so maybe the 3DMark benchmark isn't really showing what your card can do. Of course, my ti4400 is all over 12,000, (actually 14,700 right now, but my CPU is clocked higher) so I would not be happy if I upgraded to a 9700 and got no speed increase. Of course, I probably wouldn't consider buying an ATI card an upgrade either, but that's just me.

Yep I run everything with the slider all the way to the right. Don't care about 3dmark scores too much. Run some ut2003 benchmarks.

i don't have any hard benchies for UT2k3, but i must say that the game runs incredibly well. my 3DMARK2003 score is about 4500, and that seems completely in line with my hardware. i'm not gonna worry about 2001SE, i think.

i just checked the futuremark comparison page, and win2k users are on average 1500 points lower than XP users with 3dMark2001. i'm not going to go back to XP just for a few 3dmark points.
