Everytime I buy from them, it p!sses me off about all those extra charges! Why aren't they considered a monopoly?

There's more places to buy tickets from...the rest of them just suck :(

Because you can always buy from the venue box office. If Ticketmaster was the ONLY way to get tickets then you'd have a valid argument. Not saying the "service fees" aren't ridiculous. Are they paying some peon $500 an hour to keep an eye on the ticket printing machine? I think not.

Every venue box office I've ever bought from has been run BY TicketMaster.

So, in a pinch, I guess you could say they have a monopoly on the *non-suck* methods of ticket-buying

Yup!

Nevermind - In my experience they have been reliable... which almost makes up for the extra charges... ;) :D

<< A little COMPETITION would be nice. >>

For some musicals, there's a few different ticket-places but none are really better than the rest. You get what you pay for though...if you and a bunch of your friends decide you'd be willing to pay a huge difference for better service, then a good ticket place will pop up.

Ticketmaster is one operation that I have never figured out how they kept from getting busted for FRAUD! Back in the day, You could only buy tickets at the Ticketmaster outlets of which there were only maybe 50 of them within 100 miles of a 20,000 seat arena. and yet they would sell out in 10 minutes. You couldn't push the keystrokes to do it in ten minutes if even everybody was buying 10 tickets. I'll tell you how they did it, they pre-arranged with dealers before hand and those tickets were skimmed off before you had a chance.

I hate TicketMaster too, the service fees for Kittie tickets were almost as much as the tickets! They were not even available at the box office. Didn't Pearl Jam try to fight them?

Do you think they should raise prices then? That would make the tickets not sell out so fast...

It's not how fast they sell the tickets. Its the fact that they made it out like you had as much of a chance to get a ticket as anybody else, but that wasn't the case. There was collusion between Ticketmaster and the dealers to skim off the best tickets before you had a chance to get them.

I remember standing in line for 5 hours to get some Ted Nugent tickets at Cobo Area here in Detroit. I was the second person in line, when I tried to buy my ticket the whole lower bowl was sold out. Now come'on that's 10,000 tickets in 2 minutes. They were gone before I had a chance. This is in days before internet/phone sales.
