I played the first level and it was really fun, I'm going to wait until I get back to school though where my desktop is to play the rest so I can crank the graphics haha. Glad to hear the rest of the game is awesome.

It's very fun and somewhat difficult, I haven't finished it yet, I'm working on that, so far I really like the fact that in some levels we have to redirect incoming waves by carefully placing turrets, it's the basic strategy but I for one wasn't all that familiar with tower defense types of games, I played them years ago and I don't even remember on which platform it was, but yes overall it's quite a fun little game and it's very affordable, it's one of those surprising Indie games that's been coming out lately.

finished all the basic levels and about half the challenging. For a steam integrated game should be easier to check on your achievements.

I got through about 6-7 levels and got bored. Not because it's a boring game, but because my gaming attention span isn't what it used to be. I always feel like I should be doing work or spending time with the girlfriend, not playing games. :(

Then I bought it for my girlfriend during one of Steam's sales. She's further in it than me now... :\

Great game, I can't get enough of tower defence games.

Anyone know of any mods for high production games (EX: Stonewall for COH, Art of Defence [Red Alert 2, Warcraft 3]).?

I prefer the user made WC3 TDs...because I love WC3. However, this is a solid game. It's fun and best of all, it isn't addicting.

Fun game. Had some weird performance issues though (slow framerates). Fortunately, the game was still easily playable.

there are ton of web ones. Gemcraft was interesting, you had to create different gems to place in your towers.
www.handdrawngames.com has taken up a lot of my time.

I'm having a blast with defense grid. I still haven't figured out how to see achievements though since it just takes me to my Steam profile. reading the forum at Hidden Path, it seems cannons are overpowered and lasers and inferno aren't as useful. but I like to throw in a mix of towers.

Under gameplay stats on your profile page find Defense Grid. You may have to click view all games. Click the view stats button then go over to the personal achievements tab.

Cannons are awesome. I still use quite a bit of Infernos, but only one or two Lasers per map, depending on how many of those flying pod guys are there. XD

Upgraded lasers are essential on anything but shields especially at the map's entrance as the burn they give off keeps on giving.

I haven't really found a useful inferno yet, I tend to stick with upgraded guns as primaries.

Anyone find any other non-web games like this? I.E games that cost $$. I'd like to support more full featured stand alone TD games.

I'm go through phases of TD addiction like some people go through phases of tetris addiction.

EDIT:
Forgot to mention that I already have the SouthPark XBOXLive TD game ... it's not as good as Defense Grid but it's fun. Just wish it was on PC instead.

Since I played through the first time, now I plan to play it again in a months or two using different tower setup than the first. I primary used cannon to get through, they are all in one for air and ground. but I want to use other towers as well see if I can get through a different way.

Oh if you get stuck, try this trick I thought of, create a loop with two entrances each blockable by a cheap tower. keep destroy one end and create tower on the other end, this will reverse flow of aliens inside the loop making them go through your towers as many times as you like, in essence make them take your damage over and over. works well on levels that can be looped.

According to Steam, I put over 50 hours into this game getting all 57 achievements. I picked it up for $2.50 too which made it an amazing value.

- Firebug was the hardest achievement for me, I finally had to complete it on a practice mode.

- The basic gun tower remains really useful throughout the game. It only costs 700 resources to build and completely upgrade which makes it an extremely good value tower to creatively place so the short range isn't a problem.

- Grinder really lives up to it's name if you set up a path flanked by enough red concussion towers. It's not the highest scoring strategy but it IS seriously fun.

Ust make sure you still build some laser, a couple of the mobs are set at high anti-gun rating but weak laser. The ones that are relatively small and travel in pack being the worst if they happen to pick up a bunch of cubes that already made it most of the way through your maze.

Sounds like great bang for the buck. Time to check it out...

Well I probably shouldn't bump another thread about this game but I just tried the demo and bought the game tonight.

I paid $10 but I see others paid a lot less. However, even at $10 I would highly recommend this game. There is a demo that you can try if you are unsure about tower defense type games.

Highly recommended.
