Hi :). Posting another poem. It is quite good, I think. Amidst the bickering, the fapping, the remembering of hardship, and the posting of rants, maybe if we take a moment to remember some of the more important things in life, living won't seem so hard and scary.

Love Some One by Max Ehrmann

Love some one?
in God's name love some one?
for this is the bread of the inner life,
without which a part of you will starve and die;
and though you feel you must be stern,
even hard, in your life of affairs,
make for yourself at least a little corner,
somewhere in the great world,
where you may unbosom and be kind.

Cheers ! :)

Sonnet 17 of Neruda's 100 Love Sonnets that was in Patch Adam's Movie... Probably the best poem I've ever heard... IMO

I do not love you as if you were salt-rose, or topaz,
or the arrow of carnations the fire shoots off.
I love you as certain dark things are to be loved,
in secret, between the shadow and the soul.

I love you as the plant that never blooms
but carries in itself the light of hidden flowers;
thanks to your love a certain solid fragrance,
risen from the earth, lives darkly in my body.

I love you without knowing how, or when, or from where.
I love you straightforwardly, without complexities or pride;
so I love you because I know no other way

than this: where I does not exist, nor you,
so close that your hand on my chest is my hand,
so close that your eyes close as I fall asleep.

interesting stuff.....i have to write a villanelle for my com 2 class. this might get the creative part of my mind thinking

Love is all I feel anyway.

Thanks for sharing, Mr. Lover! ;) :D

Uhmm . . . well, with a little contemplation: Could not we say that it is love that leads us to the predicament we so often encounter in life? If love were not partial . . . if love were spread equally, then it would be great. In an ideal world it sounds great. But realistically, love is usually partial . . . even the definition of love assumes this. When we love A to a high degree not close to how we feel about B, we often go out of our way to do that which favours A at the expense of B and justify our conducts, especially by making a case using only facts that favour A and our relations to A.

Okay, I'm not about to get deeper into it. Chew on that. I wouldn't say "love" is everything, for love itself could lead to a predicament unfavourable to much of mankind, I think. :)

I love me as if it were the edge of the Tectonic Plate
I love you for a moment, as if I were running for the bus, and late
For 'tis not how much I care for you
In so much as how much I care for me
For 'tis not how much one loves the other
As much as one love the one

For not thereof one be damned
For loving oneself more than thy fellow man
But hitherto have to love and lost
Than to be damned to search for love eternal
No matter what the cost

Stick that in your poetic pipe and smoke it, baby.

<< Love Some One by Max Ehrmann >>

Max Ehrmann actually did something else besides stick his nose as far up the butts of Eugene Debbs and Karl Marx as he could? Hmm, who woulda thunk?
