Love my Note 2, but I got one issue...

I feel like a major noob with this phone and can't figure out when I take a picture or screenshot, then select the option "Draw On Image", the image grays out and inverts. Why can't I just draw on the image in its normal state?

What the heck is that about? I can't for the life of me figure out how to fix it and I've searched all over for the answer.
 
You're using paper artist instead of photo editor. After you take a screen shot and drag down the notification bar, touch the picture instead of choosing edit. You'll now be in gallery, hit menu then advanced edit and choose photo editor. There are tons of options at this point.

I'm not really sure what it's supposed to do but mine does the same thing when I tried it.

I hit menu -> draw on image, and the image flipped and was grayed out and mirrored. If i save it, it flips back over and has a bent page corner on top right that if you tap it, it flips back over and you can see what you drew.

I dunno man, haha.

Wow, I totally didn't even think to scroll down on the menus. It's definitely not obvious that you can do it.
 
I haven't looked at this feature yet, but damn this is a nice phone in most respects. Everyone was in awe when I started taking notes in a meeting with just my phone. Was able to sync to Google Drive.

Yeah I get a lot of stares and people coming up to me asking me is that the Note 2? Hasn't happened to me since I had the Motorola RAZR when it first came out.
 
I downloaded picartist and made that my default editor. Seems to work. I can't figure out what logic Verizon and other carriers apply when they leave out things like image editors.

I really like the device. Still getting used to the size of it after coming from an iPhone4. Love the stylus function and being able to take notes while on speaker phone. Excellent functionality there that you can not get from another smartphone.

Still trying to get used to Android. It's a new OS to me. Some cool things, some not cool things.

Phone wise some complaints I have are weak radios. It simply doesn't pull as strong a signal as other devices I've used on verizon. It's *very* prone to attenuation when doing "grip of death". I'm talking going from 5 bars down to 2 just holding it a certain way. Wifi signal strength is very weak compared to other devices. And it seems to take a long time to actually connect to wifi after unlocking.

Most of my other issues appear to be an Android problem with app quality just not being as good as on iOS. Slacker is a clear step backward - can't see controls and song data on lock screen. It also can't pass song info to the head unit over blue tooth. Plus it's really buggy...stops playing after a couple songs. The iOS experience of the app is much better.

The ESPN fantasy app has some missing functions. You can't sort players by points, stats columns are simply not able to be sorted by highest/lowest. Kind of a bummer trying to find the highest point scorers available from the app. Plus on the phone it's very blury and ugly looking. It doesn't scale well to larger screens.

Battery life is "ok" for the size of the battery, but it feels like it drains a bit faster than it should. I'm down 20% in a couple hours of very light use. I think the GPS location finder is going bonkers. I've since turned that off. Will see how it goes.
 
Be careful with Wifi and battery drain. Mine ate the battery the first day I worked from home and found a wait lock issue when wifi was on. Turning it off and using 4g improved battery life a lot for me.
 
That was it. I just needed a standalone photo editor and now when I go to edit the image, I have more options than just the paper artist.

Also, the grayed and flipped image is apparently so you can write on the "back" of the photo. What a dumb concept in this day and age IMO.
