I would have sent that back. Looks like it was some guys first time on a laptop build. Thats too many "flaws" for me. You didn't pay for a flawed laptop.

My Inspiron purchased Febuary of 2005 was flawless, and pretty much still is (despite having been stripped down to components and put back together several times while pinmodding to OC my CPU). Other then the dent, I think the rest is simply QA issues, and quite a few of them are just you being nitpicky (such as the remote or SD card sticking out). Honestly, if it bothers you that much, you should have just sent it back.

My Inspiron e1405 has most of the same issues as yours, except mine is coming up on a year old and was only $500 on sale. :p

My screen is "loose" in the fact that it can wobble about 5 degrees forward and back of the position it is in, the battery doesn't stay in 100%, there is some play in it, and when the screen is closed it can move up and down approximately 2-3 mm. But, like I said, I paid next to nothing for what was a loaded laptop at the time.

You're really picky but being able to see the teeth that hold the LCD housing together is REALLY crappy build quality and completely unacceptable. Send that thing back.

This is true.

I just got a Dell Vostro lappie for $688 shipped. I love it.
Hows the build quality? Mine should be arriving today.
It's not top of the line. ;)
but for the price I'm digging it. The keyboard is pretty slick, but it does pick up fingerprints easily on the case.
I actually have no problems with it at all, but then again I'm not a perfectionist like some of the people reviewing it as there have been complaints about the battery sticking out of the back. It looks normal to me, and it's not in the way. (I went with the 9 cell)

wait.... there is a notebook forum. :p
