Yea, it's the cardio you need to do to melt that fat right off...

You cannot lose fat doing ab curls or situps. You cannot spot reduce.

You're body uses fat all over the place equally.

Two simple components to fat loss:

Offense: Do lots of cardio. If you're out of shape, do an elliptical machine 40 minutes a day 5 times a week. Keep your Heart Rate at 140-170.

Don't do anymore because you'll body will start to consume muscle too.

If you're in decent shape do HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training). Google it. It's painful but it works.

Defense: Eat clean. Absolutely no processed carbs. Processed carbs = instant body fat and instant hunger.

Eat fruits, vegetables, nuts, fish, baked chicken, whole grains, green tea. Other than tea or coffee, drink nothing but water. Not even diet drinks. These contain harmful chemicals that fvck up your digestive system.

There is no other way to do it.

"side fat" is one of the hardest things to get rid of and in some instances like my friend, it's genetic so you're screwed.

You did try the dumbbell in one hand to the side of your body and do a crunching motion the opposite way, right?

if your goal is to build nice big obliques, that's a good idea.

Working out the obliques is a bad idea. The only thing you'll gain are more pronounced love handles?. Why? Well, you've just developed the muscles underneath your layers of fat, which have pushed the fat outwards. Kinda like what happens when girls work out their bewbies, i mean chest.

Each individual oblique muscle is about the thickness of a slice of lunchmeat. They're just sheets of muscle. They don't get big and thick. Whatever issues you have, working them won't make your belly or your love handles worse.

Your problem is overall subcutaneous fat that you have to burn off systemically. Stubborn areas of fat are the last to go, that's why they're "stubborn." Start dieting.

Just gonna say more of the same: cardio and proper eating habits are the only way to lose love handles. That, and build more muscle mass, as it'll help raise your resting metabolic rate.

If you want to strengthen your obliques, one way to do that is with side bends. Just hold a weight in one hand while your arm hangs at your side, put the other hand on your waist, and use your obliques to tilt sideways towards the arm holding the weight (as if you're trying to touch the ground with that hand, but without moving your lower body at all). Then use your obliques to raise yourself a bit past straight up-and-down (i.e. so that you're tilting slightly in the opposite direction of where you lowered yourself). Rinse and repeat.

So if this is you:

then you want to bend like this:

and then come back up like this:

but a bit past vertical
