Love and Relationships forum should be called the perverted or sex forum!

I protest! The new Love and Relationships forum is a complete joke. The Sex forum is a more appropriate name judging by the content allowed and posted. Why do we have to have something that has such perverted topics that you would find on adult only forums. I am sure a large portion of our members are under 21. Are there not laws not allowing minors to view or read stuff on a site that would be considered adult oriented?

Yeah there are legit topics that would have to do with the forum title but look at how many are perverted or sexual in nature. Off topic was bad enough at times but this is out of control. I vote to get rid of the forum or have much tighter moderators, or standards, or what ever you want to call it. Do we need stuff like this on a great computer site. If people are into all that, let them go to some other site. I know I can avoid that forum, and I plan on it, but I think it hurts Anandtech's site more than it helps.

The whole point of L&R was to give the YAGT's a home and to give people a place to be more explicit without getting locked down or kickbanned.

perverted

1. (used of sexual behavior) showing or appealing to bizarre or deviant tastes; "kinky sex"; "perverted practices" [syn: kinky]
2. having an intended meaning altered or misrepresented; "many of the facts seemed twisted out of any semblance to reality"; "a perverted translation of the poem" [syn: distorted]
3. deviating from what is considered moral or right or proper or good; "depraved criminals"; "a perverted sense of loyalty"; "the reprobate conduct of a gambling aristocrat" [syn: depraved]

If you think the topics in L&R fit that, it sucks to be you.

just ignore it, like P&N
if it keeps that crap out of OT , then I think the addition of that forum has served us well

Oh looky, it's the Church Lady. :p

Please do yourself and us a favor and DON'T venture into that forum if it bothers you so much. If you think the topics/posts are as bad as on true Adult Forums you really haven't been on one.

Those who are on this site for computer related material only aren't going to participate in the L & R forum or in Off Topic forum even for that matter.

FYI, it's been apparent for quite some time now that Anandtech is MORE than a "computer site". If this abhors you so much there are most likely other sites on the net that just deal in computer related topics. Find one.

First, I would think that the age issue would be at 18, not 21. Second, stay the hell out of it if you don't like it. What's so hard about that?

Sex is part of love and relationships. If you can't grasp that concept, it's obviously not the forum for you. You'd think someone could be mature enough not to get excited over every sex-related thread, but alas, you're here to prove that theory wrong.

I rarely venture in there, but perhaps the OP is talking about that thread where the OP kept posting very demeaning things that he did to girlfriends? (The thread about his girlfriends crying) In that case, I kinda agree, although it seemed pretty obvious that the OP of that thread was testing limits and making things up as he went along (I hope.)

Penis! Vagina! STDs! Birth Control! Orgasm! Premature Ejaculation! Erection! Dildo! Fleshlight! :Q:eek:

Seriously dude, why do you care so much? We have forum members who have posted stuff like this:

ATer: I am going to try something different and I want you to know that this means something to me and I don't want to come on too strong. So tell me if I am coming on too strong or you feel like I am taking advantage of you. I think it's uncool for a man to force himself upon a woman and a woman shouldn't have to embark on a sexual relationship with a man on the first date just because society expects her to. Ok?
Girl: Okay. /trembles
ATer: Stick out your left hand.
/Girl does so
/ATer holds hand and posts thread wondering if the relationship is progressing too fast and if he was smooth enough

Seriously: L&R is a great place where former socially-awkward geeks can help current socially-awkward geeks beat their loneliness and explore the possibility of breaking the cycle of 56 consecutive weekends eating TV dinners and playing CS:S until their middle finger has a 'W' permanently transferred onto it. And I'm pretty sure anyone who registers for a hardcore tech-enthusiast website is at least a teenager - and teenagers are better off learning about sexuality in a place like AT than the school parking lot. As for the young ones - who really cares? What are we shielding them from? If it's an issue with the parents, they should know better and monitor what their kids are looking at on the Internet.

I learned everything about sex when I was eight while flipping through the pages of the World Book Encyclopedia. It didn't corrupt me or turn me into a strange sex addict or social outcast. Yeah, if you have a problem with Accipter22 posting about teabagging his girlfriends, you can always PM the mod. :p

In mellondust's defense, if we compare L&R to OT before the new forum, it is a porn shop now. NOT that there is anything wrong with that, but it is a lot different. Me, I don't care.

Topic Title: Love and Relationships forum should be called the perverted or sex forum!

Topic Summary: It is too bad Anandtech allows this adult oriented forum on an otherwise good computer site.

Quite a protest from someone with less than 500 posts.

Like others have said, ignore it like P&n and you'll be OK.

You know if you stay out of the kitchen you won't get burned.

We've had threads on preferred size of breasts/nipples/areolas/penises etc. long before L&R. It's just that the occasional sexplicit thread got buried quickly in Off-Topic since it has the highest traffic in the forum and scores of new threads are created every day.

L&R has much lesser traffic and the threads stick around longer on the first page. I think that's pretty much all the difference.

Did you expect this:

We are constantly evaluating our new forums, and we may alter our guidelines and adjust the extent of topics we allow to be discussed in the future. L&R is an especially touchy subject, and one we are watching closely. At the moment, we are letting things stand to see what you guys will do with it.

Your feedback is important to us, as is everyone else's. Please continue to let us know what you do and do not like about our changes.

The nice thing about the new L&R forum is that you'll no longer see those topics posted in general off topic forum,a good thing for some folks, particularly those browsing from their work cubes:)

When I see "Love and Relationship" I think of love stories, personal experiences (good or bad), and possibilities with others...

What I do not see is how many girls have you been with, how many guys have you been with, stud thread, babe thread, how big is your penis thread, how big is your boobs thread...

Yes I do agree with the person that said sex coincides with love but maybe we should have a sub-category under love and relationships named "Sex and Mojos!"?

Then the OP would moan about that sub-category.

i would like to see mature topics being discussed in a mature way in L&R ...

but if it turns into all porn all the time we will step in and impose heavier moderation.
