argh, just got a notice in the mail for $401.00 for violations 22450a 40508a. i did a california roll, and was driving with an expired sticker. i had the new sticker, it was on my %#@ desk, if i hadn't waited a day to put it on that part would have been fine🙁 anyways, somehow i buried the damned ticket and now its come back with vengence and it hurts🙁 Is there anything i can do? will a judge cut this down a bit? This is a sh*tty way to start off the year🙁

yes i know i was bad for procrastinating which lead to forgetting, but this still sux. i've never caused an accident ever, i've driven probably 60k miles in the 4 years i've driven and think i drive rather safely, i'm a mellow guy. curse my luck.

you should be able to get a reduction in the expired tags fine. as for your rolling stop.... good luck

I got stopped for expired tags but I had them in the car with me, and it was only a few days late. Cali Cop let me off without a hitch, although he stopped me because I turned right on a red light to bypass it going home, and he was right behind me and thought I was bolting away from him.

As for your ticket, FIGHT IT. Never just pay a traffic ticket, and see if you can go to traffic school for it instead. The fine for the tags is BS though.

i'm not sure how to fight it. i can't say that i wasn't doing a california roll, cuz i was😛 do i kinda hope for mercy from the judge?

eek owch... I thought if you try to fight it, you have to go to traffic school or something... Or... What's an advantage to not fighting it?

Edit: Forgot to add this OMG!!! OH NO! AIIIIIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!! NOOOOOO!O!OO!O!!!!

Fight it!!!
I am not quite sure about the california roll.. but at least you might be able to get the expired registration off, if you can prove to the judge that you did pay and received it on time just didn't put it on. because technically your car registration is not expired.. because you have the sticker already.

If you fight it you probably have a good chance to lower it a little, still expect to pay a hefty fine though.

Every time I've disputed a ticket..It was reduced. But add up the time off work and standing around a zoo like atmosphere in the courts is probably penny wise/pound foolish. If it's going to impact insurance premiums then it may be worth it.😉

<< wtf is a California roll? >>

Rolling stop, basically failure to completely stop at a stop sign.

The California Roll, also = a California stop, = not actually stopping at a stop sign, = a pet peeve of mine.

I wish everyone would stop when the sign says ?stop,? but M-F?rs think it?s OK to slow down to 15 MPH, and then keep going, those stupid shts!

My advice (without actually reading, because I?m Drunkie,): Stop at stop signs, and display your current registration/inspection sticker.

😛 <-- Drunkie.

Aside from escaping the hassle of fighting it.....there really isn't much advantage. Fighting a ticket is your right. A policeman does not have the power to say who is guilty and who is not, although his word is held very highly. At the end of the day a ticket represents a policeman's accusation of you breaking the law. As with everything else, you are theoretically innocent until proven otherwise. If you pay without fighting, you are essentially admitting your guilt. WHen you fight it, you'll either strike a plea bargain in which you might be able to plead guilty to a lesser charge or have some charges dropped, or you can plead "not guilty" and go to trial, in which you don't have to testify against yourself and it's up to the prosecutor to prove that you really DID do a California Roll, which, depending on the circumstances, could be either very easy or very hard.
