Reuters link.

District Court Judge Allen Edwards ruled that Rep. Rodney Alexander sought to manipulate the ballot system when he switched his affiliation from Democrat to Republican shortly before the sign-up period ended on Aug. 6.

This is good news for those of us who still have a little faith left in the political process.

Well, he switched his affiliation BEFORE the ballot deadline, so I don't see what he did wrong. He could have stayed and switched after election, then I think the term "traitor" would be appropriate.

Hello, he did the switch in the Secretary of State Office right at the deadline thus not giving the Democrats any chance to put up a challenger. That's beyond "Traitor".

I was going to post this in the original thread, thanks Vadatjs for staying on top of the corruption in Louisiana. It's just as bad as Georgia but they tend to keep the corruptness amongst each other Politicians.

The previous Lousiana Governor is rotting in Jail for his corruptness in case anyone doesn't know that already in here.

In Georgia they will sacrifice citizens in the name of Politics.

Like I said, he made it public before the deadline. The democrats still have a candidate on the ticket. Two months, two weeks or two minutes, the deadline is there for a reason.

His change of affiliation doesn't change who the candidate is, it simply changes to letter behind his name. My point is, at least he changed his affiliation in time to be on the ticket, rather than after the election. This gave the dems the ability to throw their weight behind their other candidate.

Of course, I understand how straight party-line voters will have problems with this.

The judge must've determined that he had INTENTION of doing this to begin with. Thus his ruling.

That move was not fair game.

Alot of things like this happen from both sides of the table, I'm glad that at least this guy got caught.

Ding ding ding, winnar

I suppose, but I still don't know what it has to do with the ruling. Did he actually violate a statute in doing this, or is the judge just making up laws as he goes along?

Can you explain this from a legal perspective, rather than an emotional one? From my understanding, unless he has a legal duty to the party, it doesn't matter what his intentions are.

A link to the court opinion would be helpful. I'll look when I have a few minutes.
