I have built my first computer recently and have been hoping to make it quieter. I'm using the stock intel heatsink and fan for a Intel P4 3.0 chip and it revs around 2400 rpm's when the computer is at idle. Even at idle its louder than I would like, but when I start giving it more work, that is when the cpu fan starts to rev around 4000 rpm's and higher, and it gets real loud. Can anybody recommend how to queit this computer down? My tempuratures are good, idles round 35 celsius and when pushed goes to around 41. Maybe a new heatsink and fan are the answer?
