My speakers have always made a loud pop when the computer is turned on or off but when I recently upgraded to a Labtec 3pc, the "pop" became more of a BANG! that shakes the walls and wakes the neighborhood. It's really friggin loud so of course I turn the speakers on/off separately to minimize the problem but sometimes I forget and... KABOOM!. Any way around this?

SB Live value, Abit KT7a, Enermax PSU, grounded outlet.

Yep. Turn the speakers on/off separately. Ooops, you already do that. But now you'll remember even better.

that's an interesting problem i've noticed. i'd say 50% of the people i know have pops like that, and the other 50% (including myself) don't. i've never been able to figure out a cure other than turning off the speakers before shutdown. it just seems that you've gotta get used to it. sorry!

i don't know, did u set the bass and treble value too high?

i have the same problem when i put them to the max and when i minimize to 75%, i can still hear the pop but no more KABOOM.!

I can't easily reach the speakers so I leave the volume cranked and just control it from Windows. I was hoping there was just some grounding issue or maybe a gizmo I could put on the line to stop it, but at least I have comfort now knowing that I'm not the only one.

many sound sources pop when powered up. high quality audio devices and equipment use a "soft-power-on" feature to stop this. There's nothing you can do about it.
