since yesterday there has been this buzzing noise in our kitchen. we think it's from the floor or the wall (both made of wood). every 10-30 minutes it buzzes quickly 3-4 times continuously. it's really loud and sounds kind of like a drill...

my dad thinks it's from heat expansion/contraction but it's been going on for over a day now and i wonder if it could be some kind of wood burrowing insect?

any ideas?

I dont think heat contracts makes buzzing sounds, i thought they made things creak. It might be insects... anyways you can get into the walls?

It's the burrowing bulltick. It burrows into walls and poops out bees that buzz in the holes in those walls.

is the furnace working?
maybe the pipes are chattering?

might be mice eating/making nests.

Call exterminator.

or the Fire Dept. ;)

did you do any plumbing work lately?
last year i turned off my water and drained some lines to replace a faucet. the next day i had the strangest noises. it took me a while to track it down, it was from the water lines.

damn it. sounds bad.

during the summer we saw some bees coming in and out of holes in the wall for the lights. the holes were sealed up but i guess they found other ways in and out

well recently a line to the outside was drained and the main water valve was adjusted a few times
