Lotus Elise at a Local Used Car Dealer

Do you know what the asking price is?

I thought they weren't that expensive given how exotic they are

The price isn't bad, it's like 40K, but supposedly all the production has been spoken for.

Not a clue. I could always try calling and asking tomorrow. 🙂

Yeah, 40K, plus a nice premium on top of that so the dealer can buy enough mouthwash to get rid of the man-juice taste in his mouth, from the "miracles" he had to perform to get the car onto his lot.

wow. $45k? not bad at all. thats cheap enough for "normal" people to get. considering all the E55 AMGs/SL55s and m3s rolling around all the time.

If I was going to spend $45k on a sports car, it would probably be between this and a C6 'vette...and I'd probably choose the Lotus.

heh, that place is in my hometown. proabably a 5 min drive from my folks place. I shoulda swung by there on my way out of town earlier today...

The only reason I went to that website is because I saw the Lotus on my way out of town today. I did a double take when I saw it too.

I almost said the same thing but figured it was far more likely that you were just some random computer illiterate person that just stumbled across ATOT. 🙂

Does Lotus have a partnership with Toyota? I noticed the post said that the car was "Toyota powered" and I also recall that Lotus engineers did a lot of the design for the MKII MR-2 (my baby 🙂). Nice looking car, tips the scales at a hair under a ton, IIRC.

well the "random" and "stumbled" parts are right, I came here by way of hot deals. I'm no IT admin, but I've assembled a few boxes and am the computer resource guy for most of my family/friends.

Toyota's engine meets US specs. It's just a Celica GTS engine hopped up a bit.

I'm curious, the Morgan that Richard Hammond drove on Top Gear last week weighed only one ton, and developed 330 bhp.... And handled spectacularly. Is it better than the Lotus?

I sort of doubt the Aero 8 can match the Elise for handling, especially since the engine is up front. However, it's probably easier to drive, and still absolutely blazing fast.
