Touch is one of our most basic needs. Touch is healing, and transformative. I'm known as the best hugger in my church. People send their mothers and grandmothers up to me for a hug. I know, because I'm always appropriate, and never initiate such an invasion of personal space with people I don't know who may not appreciate it. Then, the adult age daughter (for some reason, it's always women on these missions) steps forward and says, "Go ahead, hug my Mom, I told her you give the best hugs!"

However, THIS is the internet. All the emoticons in the world can't make up for our essential disconnectedness, and the bedrock fact is that that's just an optical mouse you're lovingly caressing, nothing more.

I'm beginning to think that yllus, no man's fool, was on to something when he told you in the other thread to drop that "innocent outsider looking in" shtick.

Honestly, I peek in here every day and I don't think it is so bad. I see a lot of intelligent, thoughtful people in here who really care about what is going on in the world today. I treat others (including the ones who don't agree with me) the way I wish to be treated and for the most part, I get that kind of respect back.

Of course, my husband says that The Golden Rule is not as good as the Platinum Rule, in which you treat others the way THEY want to be treated rather than the way YOU want to be treated. The problem that I find with that is WAY too many guys want a dominatrix, and I'm just not really into that. 😛

Honestly, I think people who use "hardy handshake" got it from that sly pun in Blazing Saddles: "It's my privilege to extend to you a laurel and a hardy handshake."

The more I observe people, the more I realize we are really just the same, we just are coming from different perspectives that are born from different life experiences.

And yeah, I'm more of a sub and he likes it better when I get whoopass on him. 😉
