I bought an Enermax 460W refurb from Newegg........WORKS GREAT!!!!! :D It's rails are constant and consistant, just what I heard about Enermax (upgraded from Antec). I'm OC'ing bigtime and the +12V stays fixed at 12.04V, where my Antec would dip down to about 11.72, and then my system would crash.

Yes, I bought a Antec 380 True Power power supply from Newegg refurb. I had to send it back because of problems with heat and voltage. The fan would run but way to slow. The heat coming out of the back of the power supply was like the heat coming out of a toaster. Very hot convection heat raising out of the back of the power supply. The 5 volt rail was low on voltage. I double checked the voltage with a voltmeter and it was low.

To think that I was able to check this power supply out for Newegg and it only cost me about $10.00 to ship it back to them, plus my lost time too. I have bought other refurb items from Newegg in the past with about a 65/35 good to bad ratio. I had a motherboard that was damaged and a TV card that was missing all the software so that the card was useless. The software could not be download. To be fair I have bought refurb motherboards, video cards, and CD-RW's that have worked fine

Seeing as Newegg raised their prices on refurb items and is charging shipping on them, it just is not worth the risk for me to try out the refurb stuff any more. You win some and you lose some. If you value your time and factor that in too, for me I'll buy new.

I picked up the 400 watt "generic" refurb power supply for $5 + $1 shipping. Turns out to be a Powmax. Works... What more can I ask for $6. Not that I'd ever let this thing near a real computer. However it is probably an upgrade from my 380 watt "Macron" brand ps.

You take a chance with a refurb no matter what you buy. With the PSU, it's an even bigger chance.

This is one part I go new with. It's too critical IMHO.

Yup. Two Fortrons one of which I just got like two weeks ago and I think the third was an Enermax. All worked fine as did every other refurb I got from Newegg which add up to a lot of parts.
