Hello,

I have a razer barracuda AC-1 soundcard and logitech Z-5300 speakers. Sometimes I use my headphones and when I connect them to the front of my case (which connects to the barracuda) there is a lot of hiss. When I connect via the control pod on my logitech speakers I don't get any noise. Anyone know why this happens?

So far, 2/2 of my front panel connectors have been noisy, one on an old dell 8250 and one on an Antec P180. It seems as if the cables to the connectors aren't well shielded (or at all).

It is system noise being amplified by the soundcard. The digital to analog converter on most onboard soundcards aren't very good, and pretty much any mechanical sound is amplified. Especially with headphones connected directly to the line out.

he has a dedicated card. there shouldn't be noise (unless it's an xfi...).

try moving the cable and seeing if the noise changes. either it's passing by some interference or it's the jack.

Even with a dedicated soundcard the front audio can just be awful. Poorly shielded, picks up a ton of ambient noise.
