Ok. So I was pondering like I always do when I'm at work. How come there's like 50 commercials advertising all types of feminine hygiene products from shampoo to soaps all geared towards women yet there aren't any Male brand products of the same accord. I mean the market is definately there. I mean, do we really want to use women's shampoo like Pantene Pro-V and smell like a women? No. I believe they even had a commercial advertising this. Talk about inequality. Take a good look at "Axe" for example. They took the market by storm by catering to the Male crowd, and they built up their niche market, so much that competing brands Old Spice and others had to create their own body spray. And when I found out Old Spice came out with their own body wash, I bought like 4 bottles immediately and dropped the sweet smelling feminine stuff I was using.

So My question is,

What male branded products are out there for us guys to use?

I know there is Old Spice body wash which I use and Suave for Men Shampoo and Conditioner which I use as well. Although Suave did start out as a female brand.

I think Axe or Old Spice should come out with a full line of bath products.

There are a few reasons.

Most guys don't have extra long hair.

Most guys don't have vaginas.

Most guys don't have large breasts that sweat inside a bra all day.

Enough said.

It's all about marketing.

Women buy shampoo, laundry detergent, dishsoaps, ect because of commercials whereas men don't.

Men buy beer from commercials with half naked women, are interested in car car commercials with pounding music and wreckless driving, and are drawn to big explosions.

Yes. Buy beer, yet still smell like a girl. that's my biggest quip. Do you use their tampons too? Hellls no. I just came up with this cuz back in college we had this whole discussion on "Axe" and their marketing scheme and how brilliant it was. Of how, they pretty much just catered to guys and was able to stay in a market dominated by Proctor and Gamble and others. And Niviea and Suave did first start out as female products and later realized, hey, why don;'t we market to guys instead?

I'm not seeing your whole point of smelling like a girl. I use Old Spice deodorant and soap. Just because they're not advertised, doesn't mean I'm going to go out and buy the products I see on tv and end up smelling like a woman.

And as someone else brought up, most guys don't have long hair. I use Pantene Pro-V and personally, it doesn't even have a scent and it's not like someone has ever come up to me and told me my hair smells good.

Men don't care about this stuff, women do and that's how people advertise stuff.

There are a ton of men products....check out Esquire, GQ, and Playboy each month for listings such as $50 shave creame, $75 toner, jock 'powder', etc.

It is a niche market, most 'guys' get brought up throw a little soap on it, hit the pits and you are good to go. :)

For many men all the products would take far too long to go through during each shower. Women usually get ready once and that's it. For many men (sports, labor, etc)...frequent showers happen and they couldn't deal with high maintenance hair, yet alone a 2 hour 'getting ready' process :)

However, nice urban life is getting guys to try hair styles, face products, even facials (some in all aspects of the word ;)), etc.

To me you can spot a well groomed man....two guys can be wearing the same clothes, suit and shoes, but one guy will stand out.

He will have even side burns, good eyebrows, smooth nails and hands...perhaps a few nicks from his hobbies on the weekend, but no grease still under his nails.

As a banker you got to see suits 24/7....most just blend in with the crowd/masses...but a couple guys you notice in the group.

I was one of those well dressed/groomed guys. I used to buy suits 2 for $300 :) ultra cheap, department store suit (JC Penney made some with a perfect cut for me).

Anyways....by completing the outfit with a pair of shoes always shined, hair cut (even if my hair style was not traditional office), nice shirt and tie...everyone would ask how I can afford 'these nice suits'.

It's all in the look

there are "male" products. the only difference is the fragrance used. if you use fragrance free, it's all the same. i use a male scented body wash. and for the hair, i try to go with fragrance free.

I personally use Palmolive (if thats how it spelt) and Clinique products ( after persuasion from a female friend of mine)... My skin is looking great after almost a whole year using it. Also I ain't ashamed of promoting my use of the said products... if it keeps your skin clean, clear and younger looking why not I ask.

IMHO, it's because a majority of men really don't give a sh!t about such products. Soap and a washcloth, and whatever shampoo is around. It's amazing how brainwashed some women get by some of these advertisements... (and some men).... seriously. Hair is dead cells. Vitamins are NOT absorbed by hair, nor is protein. My hair doesn't need guava, mango, kiwi, vitamins A B C D, and extracts of every exotic fruit and vegetable known to mankind for my hair to be clean and look good. $20 for a bottle of shampoo?? Suave for $1 works just as well. The only thing that really might matter is the scent. I can't stand some of those scents that early in the morning...

You are just not looking in the right places . . . do a google search or search the "gay" web. :p

Of course men don't have to deal with menstruation or pregnancy.

Updated the thread title.

but yea. I know there are plenty of deoderant commercials. But my thinking is, when I'm near a girl and they smell really nice, you just go, wow, and you want to get a little closer to them. The thing is they aren't wearing any perfume half the time it's just shampoo. ON the same note, when I wear a new cologne or something, sometimes a girl will compliment and say, you smell really great what is that? and get a little closer. The thing is, I don't like wearing cologne all the time, cuz you'll be smelling yourself. So I figured, if girls can smell nice with just their shampoo, why can't guys do the same? Get a simple 2-1 Male marketed shampoo or something that has a nice scent, and bickitey bam your done. And I guess that's how Axe markets their stuff.
