Just saw the announcement in the official forums.

* Siege of Mirkwood will have a base price of $19.99. As with Moria last year, we're going to have a set of early upgrade offers that are very compelling. We're not quite ready to unveil those details yet, but we'll keep you posted.
* The epic story continues on in Volume 3 as a regular content update early next year.
* Some of the improvements to the game coming with Mirkwood will benefit everyone, but the key features will require the Mirkwood upgrade.

edit: added more info from the forums.

Sounds very interesting, the skirmish stuff really nice. I don't normally do d/l expansions, but this being an mmo is different and I would expect this to be rather cheaper since there will be virtually no direct cost on them to produce it.

Anyone able to put a link for the lotro page after the "\mirkwood" flash page? It kills my mobile browser and doesn't load the next page.

I don't seem to have a copy of the possible lotro expansion plan map that was released a couple years ago with me at work so I'll have to wait till I get home to compare, but am interested to see how it matches up.

I am just happy they won't be using Atari as the distributor. They have been horrendous in bringing any kind of attention the game.

that's your best bet for mobile.

Well realize that a lot of LOTRO subscribers thought that book 9 would be released separate from the expansion, so this comes as a disappointment to many of the people in my kinship.

As far as content goes though there are a couple of highlights interesting to current LOTRO players:
- raising level cap to 65 will include raising the cap on virtues
- you'll be able to pick legacies on crafted 2nd age gear
- new 12 man and 6 man instances
- skirmishes look good but may kill PvMP (if you care)
