I thought it would've moved down on IMDB ratings by now but it's actually going up. Was 9.1 yesterday now its 9.2 here. 😕

<---wants to see LOTR do well so more money is given for the development of the later movies!!

This film is so increadibly important to the genre it can't be overstated. A huge box office killing here will not only expose milions to the wonder of Fantasy (mayhaps we can even pray that 'fantasy' could finally be separated from 'sci-fi' in listings), but it will provide incentive to make other wonderful stories come to life on the big screen...who doesn't wan't to see Eddings, Pratchett, Jordan, Brooks, Weiss&Hickman and others after all these years of dreaming and waiting.

I agree...more big budget fantasy = GOOD. However, I'd also like to see a LOTR prequel (The Hobbit) 🙂 That would make a great movie.

yeah it would be great if they made The Hobbit, but I think they should make that one more of a children film because it is more of a children book than lotr.

But I want either Wheel of Time or Discworld next.

Actually, they already filmed all three of the movies over a 15 month period, they did so to save on costs, so sets wouldn't have to be rebuilt for the Two Towers, and the Return of the King. It's all just a matter of them releasing the movies:

The Two Towers: 12/25/2002
The Return of the King: 12/25/2003

So yeah, another year to go before the next one... Fellowship was amazing, very well done movie.

you're telling this to a guy who has obsessed over the films for 2 years..trust me, i know 🙂 i was talking about the special effects budget...how well FOTR does can determine if more is spent on TTT and ROTK.

My stepmom loved it, she went into it knowing absolutely nothing about the story. She was dissapointed at the end, though, but she perked up when I told her about the next two years.

That said, I have something to get off of my chest . . .

Some of the fans who have posted in the review threads disgust me. You know who you are. You're the ones complaining about the omission of lembas (it's BREAD, for Pete's sake), the early introduction of Arwen and her romantic scene with Aragorn (hello, they get married, it would be good to show some character development, eh?)

The book is a finely woven tapestry, and if it has any fault whatsoever, it is the fact that it is TOO detailed. The fact that Peter Jackson was able to boil it down into a three hour film (one that certainly did not seem to last so long) and still retain that which is Lord of the Rings is a testament to his mastery and his love for the work.

I really hope they put The Hobbit out on the big screen. I guess if the LOTR does really good which I think it will. There may be some support to make the movie.

Well I am not male, and I never played D&D in my life, but I loved that movie. So much I am getting the books and reading them again, because now I really feel like I didn't give them enough of a chance before.

Filming, yes. Post production, no!

I'd imagine that they could probably release TTT next summer, but the way it is now they can milk the free pub from the DVD release of FOTR next fall 😛
