LOTR in Salt Lake City!

My friends is seeing it right now, should be done soon, he will contact me and brag about it and I will have to beat the sh:t out of him when I see him.

<< As the premiere of "Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring" approaches a week from Wednesday, Larry and a number of fellow Salt Lake Tolkienites are making plans to see the movie at 12:01 a.m. ? the first legal minute it can be shown. >>

I dunno how they're doing it here...but I have tickets for a advance screening on December 18th @ 10pm. Just got those puppies yesterday. Of course I already have tickets for the 19th that I bought nearly a month ago as well 😀 thursday and friday (and saturday, and sunday, etc.) are all looking good too 😀

I'm curious as well? I was just there on business and I thought it was great......minus the damn construction on state street downtown.

Sounds awesome man 😀

Here's my plan for 18th/19th (myself and 2 friends)

7-9pm Dec 18 - go out to eat at this cool restaurant/bar near the theater. no i'm not getting drunk before LOTR, i can't mess with my senses at all
9-10pm Dec 18 - wait in line for advanced screening
10pm-1am - experience what i've been waiting for for like 2 years
1am - back to the bar, to discuss the movie and have a few drinks
Then that night we're all staying at one of our places
All day on the 19th - LAN gaming, watch a DVD or two
7pm - wait in line for LOTR (already have tickets for this show too)
8:15pm - movie begins again 😀

btw we're all college students and we're all home for christmas break so no work to worry about or anything

Beyond the construction, if it has rained in the past 3 weeks, the place smells like a giant sewer (thanks to its great valley location). Past that, its my personal upbringing that makes me dislike being there.

Depends on which way the storm blows in. If it comes in from the North-North/West it drags in the smell of the Great Salt Lake.

We all took the day off of work. 😀

Yeah and it doesn't happen very often either because you during winter months it's too cold so there is no smell. Usually only happends around the summer and maybe 4 times total for the whole year.

Yes, Salt Lake City does not stink like a sewer except on very rare days. I used to think Salt Lake City was horrible, until I traveled a bit. Now I realize it's one of the good ones.
