It'd be nice if I can pick up the entire trilogy w/ goodies for a lot cheaper than buying the 3 gift sets.

EDIT: Title change

EDIT 2: Another title change

EDIT 3: I think I'll stop these edit notes for title changes...

Cool. I'll hold out spending $150+ on the released gift sets and wait for it then.

Thanks guys.

...Unfortunately I imagine myself breaking down and buying 'em anyways...and then picking up such a set right after it comes out

That's one thing that bothers me -- each movie spans over 2 DVDs!

Looks like whenever the successor to DVD comes out, i'll be buying LotR for the new medium so I don't have to change the DVD halfway through.

DVDs can be dual-layered and double-sided right?

Are the LotR dvds single-layered?

*Hopes the super edition will have dual-layered discs so I don't have to changed the dvds*

They're dual layer but it's still more than a dual layer can hold. And yes, you can have dual layer and dual sided. Either way for the extended editions prepare to get up. You could make a copy onto a single disk but that's a lot of compression. With CCE at 4-6 passes it might look fine.

I thought every seen they added in the TT was pretty useless myself except for the part with Boromir. I like the regular edition much better.

The extended FotR I thought was good though.

:(

Do dvd players read dual-sided discs without having to get up and change the sides?

I miss that series. They need make a "xxx vs capcom" game again...something to trounce marvel vs capcom 2 and sell it on all the console systems AND the pc. The PC needs a decent fighting game!

as for the hobbit movie question posed a few posts ago... I read that Jackson would love to do it, possibly in 2006, but there was some issue w/ securing the rights for the book or some such thing.

True that. But you really need a gamepad for it. Keyboard + mouse isnt going to work for a good fighting game. And in all honesty, who has a game pad for their PC?
