LOTR Battle for Middle Earth - Any way to save/load (and finish later) a multiplayer game over LAN?

I picked up Lord of the Rings - Battle for Middle Earth (the original) and I'm not seeing an option to save a multiplayer game or load a multiplayer game. It's not an option? Playing a multiplayer game can take a couple of hours at a sitting, so it'd be nice to finish the game at a later time/date.

This seems to be a recent (last couple of years) short-comings of games. Seems like game companies don't want their customers to have too many options in the multiplayer modes UNLESS it's through an on-line service.

IMO and on a side note...the developers of recent games (e.g., Doom 3, BF2 and COD2) all blew it big time when they didn't include support for co-op over a LAN. That's a LOT of fun and gives me a reason to buy more games, not less games. Plus it gives peeps a great reason to have multiple PCs (and upgrade multiple PCs).

So does having the opportunity to murder your friends :)

Sorry, don't know the answer.

That game's a lot of fun mp huh? I'm guessing the gameplay is slower and less micro intensive than rts like DoW and WC3?

It's quite fun:) Resource gathering consists soley of building 1 or 2 structures along with having to build certain structures which make units less expensive so not much micro-management at all. Leaves a lot more time for managing battles. The battle scenes are a lot of fun....nothing like 2-3 companies (~18 indiviual horesemen) of Rohan's horsemen charging through a gang of orcs. The number of soldiers (which come in "clusters" of up to 5-10 men/creatures) allowed on the map at one time is not more than ~100 (for men) and maybe ~200 for "orcs" (and miscel. creatures). There are ways to change this in the INI codes, but keep in mind you have to have a ~A64 CPU and ~X800 256MBer or better graphics card to play with setting on high and fast FPS. I have 1 PC with a XP2400+ clocked at 2.0 GHz, a 9800Pro and 756MBs RAM and with the map full and settings on medium, the game chugs more than I like.

CompUSA (Novi, Michigan) has the game on clearance for $15.98 (B&M plus sales tax).

BFME 2 is due to release ~3-4 weeks and I've read "some form" of game play for BFME2 allows for saving a multiplayer game (since this form may take a couple of days for players to complete according to EA).

Since all the original actors do the voice overs...it's makes me feel like I'm in the movie:) The "cities" are pretty sparse and simple though...so that was a let-down (i.e., no feeling of "immenseness" to Gondor or Mordor).

It's NOT slow at all. The battles are fast and furious. I was playing a skirmish and time after time I barely was able to launch my "ghost army" before the Balrog destroyed my city. My 8 year old son said "dad...you gave me 3 heart attacks just now...WHEW!!" Plus the game is not "gory" (although there's a blood patch;)) and it's rated "teen".

It just sucks not being able to save a mulitiplayer match since it can take hours to win a game and I don't have consective hours to play MOST of the time. Games these days are starting to be a big let down missing features I guess I've taken for granted (single-player coop or a LAN, saving mulitiplayer matches, etc.). If game companies had their act in place, they'd at least offer these features in expansion packs. They're LAME.
