I lost my WinXP Pro CD in a recent move, and am curious if MS will replace it, or do I have to buy a new liscense to get a new CD or do am I screwed out of $200?

1. Microsoft might have a evaluation edition you could download and then use your valid key.

2. Could download an iso file from the dark nether region of the internet and burn a new cd and use your cd key.

3. Download a x64 trial edition if you have a 64 bit machine.

well i found this page, and am going to give it a try. i bought the CD while a student at UT in Austin, TX, but I live in Amarillo, TX now. i have to admit i don't understand their student liscense very much. the site also says i need proof of purchase which i don't have. all i have is the sticker (it does have a UPC symbol on it) on my PC with the CD key. and no, I don't have a 64 bit machine. just a 3.0C Pentium4.

Just copy the cd from a friend/associate.

The CoA is the important thing here, as long as you've got a legal install key, it doesn't matter who's cd you use.

Just make sure the cd is the same as the one you had originally.

IE: XP Pro OEM, or XP Pro retail etc.
