Lost WU installing 2nd F@H console

The title says it all in a fit of enthusiasm I decided to use my second core and after reading up on it ( I thought) downloaded the 5.02 console. I clicked on the run box and ok expecting a installer that I could use to open it in a second directory. Instead the console downloaded and started to run without any chance to configure it as it found a core allready being used by my running GUI it also started to process the same core before I saw this it aparently cause a conflict that quit the WU and downloaded another (it was 1/2way through a 396 pointer :brokenheart: ). So what do I need to avoid this next time?

You need to create seperate directories for each folding client. When you do the initial config you need to make sure that they all get a different CPU ID number. That should take care of the problem.

IE: C:\Folding1
C:\Folding2
C:\Folding3
so on and so forth.

Just copy the client into that folder, and it'll be like setting it up for the first time again.

Thanks for the vote of confidence, Spacehead 😉

Sorry about the lost WU, MadAmos!

Save the console client to a different directory than the GUI (the 5.04beta is really not a beta anymore and I use it exclusively).

Right click drag a new shortcut to the executable.

Right click on the new shortcut and select Properties. In the Target textbox, at the end of what is in there, add a space and then "-local -verbosity 9 -forceasm" without the quotes.
The -local flag makes sure that the console will not use the GUIs files, -verbosity 9 raises the level of what is output to the screen and FAHlog.txt file and shows more info, -forceasm tells the client to not check how it was last shut down so it will always use optimized code (only use this if you know that your computer is F@H stable)

The first time you run the console it will go into configure mode. Put your name exactly like the GUI (or else you will start another user) and 198 for TeAm.

The next questions can probably be answered with the default. If you want to try for bonus WUs answer yes to >5MB download.

Make sure you answer yes to go into advanced options.

When you get to MachineID MAKE SURE you enter any number 2-8 NOT the default number 1.

If you need to configure again, make another short cut and also add "-configonly" if you only want to config or "-config" if you want to config and then run the console. Don't forget the space before the dash.
