Lost taskbar along with all desktop icons!!!

Hi all,

i have a big problem, i was helping my brother install google desktop and my computer shut down on me. When it restarted, my desktop came back with no taskbar nor any desktop icons!!!

i cant right click or anything, nothing loads, i can access teh task manager and launch applications from there.

Please help!!!
 
it seems that i cant run explorer??? i can run firefox, but when i try to run explorer nothing is coming on!

 
but yes, explorer does not load at start up any longer, any suggestion on how to reload it.

Restarting does not work.
 
Try this:

reboot in safe mode log into the adminstrator acount insert the xp cd (if you
using xp) click on run and type sfc /scannow and this should fix the problem
