LOST - Season 1, Episode 3

This show is crap. I don't know where they're going with this. I think tonight will be the last night that I watch "lost".

Not a bad show, but I noticed it's a little like Gilligan's Island. I mean they spend a whole show worried about running down the batteries on their transmitter and now on tonight's show I see flashlights and a guy listening to a portable CD player. Inconsistencies aside, I like the plot twists and stuff and will most likely keep watching.

Polar bears in the jungle and a guy carving a dog whistle... I wonder where this is headed?

Have they shown the monster yet? I only saw parts of the first episode. I agree with ErmanC. It looked like a Steven King version of Gilligan's Island.

yea i agree with the whole battery thing. i saw them listening to music at the end and was like WTF why didnt they try to use those batteries? granted that the battery for he transmitter im sure is alot different than a double A or something, but still. however I also thought this was the most boring episode of them all so far, but i still liked it. the next one looks pretty cool too, i am looking forward to watching it next week.

I thought the first two episodes (pilot broken up in to two 1 hour shows) was much better than last night's episode. Not as much tension or suspense last night till the end. Much more character development for Kate (we need more of her bathing in the ocean) than anything else.

So instead of a 3 hour tour we get a 1 hour bore..... I hate tv these days....what ever happened to Air Wolf, the A-Team, and MacGyver?

You forgot TJ Hooker, Greatest American Hero, and and oldy but a goody, The Dukes of Hazard.
I didn't mention the 6 million dollar man or the Incredible Hulk either.... I was just trying to mention a few so you'd get the point. 😉

All I know is, they better get them off the beach and into some more exotic locales. Let's all build tents right next to the wreckage and live here on the sand.

Granted, the next episode, when they decide to start hunting for food, looks like the point at which the show will begin developing some story instead of just developing the characters. They all have demons....we got it....now move on.

Oh, and the show looks and sounds great in HD. 🙂

They can't move into the jungle...that's where the monster is. They're safe on the beach.

My ABC station doest broadcast in HD yet. :| CBS, NBC, Fox, PBS, and UPN do...but not ABC. 😛

Yeah, cause monsters are afraid of sand. 🙂

Maybe they think the beach offers them better concealment. Maybe they don't mind having 50% of their escape routes blocked by the sea.

A woman I work with can't stop talking about this show. I need to learn how to get the torrent, but lack motivation. You guys seem split, so I don't know.

The show is definitely worth a look. Knowing JJ Abrams, he throws in some filler episodes as he does with Alias where nothing developing the story happens, but you still get things happening with the characters. I have a feeling he won't disappoint in the long run... though episode 3 last night was pretty disappointing... filler or not.

Yeah it's only been like 2-3 days since the crash. They'll explore more eventually I'm sure. And yes, HD rules... so worth it... though I missed the plane crashing in ep1 on my hdtv. 🙁

yea i had no clue it was only the 3rd day on the island until they stated that last night on the episode. i would have thought it would have been a little longer than that. the part where the US marshal was shot, but not killed ... oooh man that must have been painful for the shooter dude to live with ...

I'm sorry, but after getting over the shock, the first thing I would have done is find some high ground near a freshwater source. They waited three days for it to rain so they could have water? And did somebody find an economy sized bottle of sun screen? Cause everybody is spending all day on a tropical beach and nobody is getting burnt.

Oh, and I'm lost on an isolated island with no hope of rescue, no food, a handful of psychopaths, and at least one menacing monster roaming around, the first thing I'm doing is building a freaking spear.

did something happen in the last one or two minutes? I saw up to the part where it was playing music and everything was fine. Then it showed Mr. Lock? (bald guy who made the whistle), the music seemed to be turning dark... and my recording ended.

Nope, that's where it ended.

You bring up valid points like many others who've already stated that stuff on the ABC forums, but if the writer considered the what-ifs moreso than his own plot, he would be doing himself an injustice. This is a drama. He's got ideas in his head for where the characters are going and having the setting just right was probably not even a tertiary concern. If you're a stickler for realism, then tv isn't for you. I watch it for the big ideas (like that radio contact) ... not concerns that would make movie-mistakes.com.
