lost profile

Hi,

I'm very new to this, but met a problem, hope you guys know how to fix it.

I'm using standalone windows 2000, when I turn on it shows "Windows cannot find the local profile and is logging you on using a temporary profile. Changes you make to this profile will be lost when you log off." I encrypt some files, unfortunately, didn't back up the key, the files seems "welded" on my harddrive, can't open, edit, move. is there anyway I can restore those files?

Not without the key -- it's there for a reason.

I lost a profile in XP-Pro awhile back and it was no fun trying to recover what little I could... Good luck
