I've only played the game for a few minutes, but I've fought with the settings for hours. I wasn't aware that you had to be logged into the STEAM server to play YOUR GAME. It's like you don't even own it, if their server is down then you better have a good book ready. Besides what happens 3 years from now- their server is down permanantly and I have useless software on my PC. I know multiplayer requires their server to run, but in a single player campaign I should not need net access to run my game....that's why I bought it....IT'S MINE. I could care less for the play anywhere access option, I don't like being dependent on STEAM to play a game I've paid for. Bad decision to include this in my opinion. From now on leave the game in the GAMERS HANDS...... not yours.

Am i reading this right you need internet access to play the single player mode?

Anyone who has this game please let me know if this is true or not. My cousin has a pc and wants the game for his birthday. The computer in his room doesnt have an internet connection.

This cant be true can it?

For the version downloaded from Steam, that's more or less true. The game can be played in offline mode, but not until Steam has had a chance to contact home first and verify credentials (and will need to periodically do this). I don't know if the boxed version uses this however, a quick glance makes it sound like you'd be find with that version.
