Lost pics on an iPhone vault app

I archived several pics to a vault app on my iphone 4, but the worthless POS app 'lost' the pics. If I go into the app, it has file designators for the pics but if you try to view them, they just show up as a black image. Would something like iExplorer be able to retrieve them or am I SOL? I don't have a Mac, so I'd need a pc app. Thanks.
