I misplaced my administrator password on a lab of windows xp pro machines and wondering if there is a way to get it back. I lost hte piece of paper i wrote it on. I have tried PWDump. They have not been hooked up to a domain yet so that is not an option. Thanks for any suggestions.

if you didn't use EFS (encrypted files), you can search google for nt password reset disk.

Hmm... I THINK you only use the data for the account that owns the encrypted data, so if your user accounts encrypted stuff, you MIGHT still be able to reset the administrator accounts password.

Requires admin privileges. If he had an admin account, I would think he could have copied the encrypted data somewhere else and reset the admin password.

if he doesnt know what EFS is, he also may not know how to do that.
