Lost of viewable area on screen??

I was clicking on the ATi advanced tap in ATi control panel. For those who have the card, it was scan and you see lines on screen for about 1-2 seconds. However, during this process it seemed like my viewable area on screen was decreased and never came back?? Now I'm setting still trying to figure out whats going on and if it really did happen... Because I can't see a big difference and yet something is bothering me... the edges of the screen. Help...
 
go to display properties> settings> advanced> adapter and make sure the refresh rate is set to either "optimal" or "adapter default"
